    Your PADI OpenWater Diver Course is divided into three segments over Four Days: 

• Lecture - Class Session (s) (Approximately 4-6 Hours Covering Five Chapters)
• Confined Water - Pool Session (s) (Approximately 6-8 Hours)
• Open Water - Open Water Ocean Dives (4 Dives over a Two Day Period at Catalina Island's "Casino Point")

PREREQUISITE

• Silicone Dive Mask (Properly fitted)
• Snorkel
• Dive Fin with Heel Strap (Properly fitted to your Boots)
• Neoprene Boots (5mm thickness or more)
• Neoprene Gloves (2mm thickness or more)

The true advantage of buying the Basics here is, if it doesn't meet your expectations during your Pool Sessions, we'll simply walk you from the Pool area into the Showroom and find you something that does.  It's easy!

  CATALINA WEEKEND FOR LIVING SOCIAL PARTICIPANTS

This is our Favorite Program and also Big Fun! The Catalina Weekend program incorporates 24 hours of Instruction. the first weekend is split between classroom and pool time on both Saturday & Sunday.  The second weekend is two full days on Catalina Island making your Open Water Dives off Casino Point!

Prior to Starting Your PADI Open Water Class:

• Pick a Schedule Here.  Please enroll at Least 1 Week prior to start date.
• Visit our San Pedro Dive Center to Pick-up your Books & Loaner DVD.
• Get fitted & Purchase your Basic Snorkeling Gear at either Location.
• Read your PADI Open Water Book and Complete All 5 Knowledge Reviews at the end of each Chapter.
• View your DVD in its' entirety.
• Fill out your Medical release in FULL.  If you answer ANY of the questions on the Medical Form "Yes" you will need to get a signed release from your Doctor.  Click Here for Medical Release Form.

Bring to your First Class/Pool Session:

• Your Signed Medical Release. (Doctor's Release, as well, if you answered any Medical Questions "Yes".
• Your Books and DVD (DVD to be returned), plus completed homework assignments (All 5 Chapters) to hand into your Instructor.
• Pen, Paper, Swimsuit & Towel plus your Basic Snorkeling Gear.

Typical Schedule:

Weekend #1 

Saturday morning you'll meet at the San Pedro Store at 9:00 am.  You'll do some paperwork, Classroom review and break for lunch around noon.  Following Lunch you'll do your swim assessment in our on site, indoor heated pool (85 degrees of comfy, clear, clean water).  Following, you'll put on SCUBA gear & practice honing your Diving Skills.  Class should wrap up around 5 pm.

Sunday morning you'll meet at the San Pedro Store at 9:00 am again.  Start with a Classroom review, Final exam and break for lunch around Noon.  Following Lunch you'll put on SCUBA gear & practice honing your Diving Skills and run through Dive scenarios to make you comfortable in the water.  Class should wrap up around 5 pm.

Weekend #2 

Saturday morning you'll take the Early Catalina Express Boat to Avalon with fellow students and your Instructor(s).  The Seaport Village Inn Van will meet our Group at the Dock to help us with Gear & People Transport to the Dive Site.  They will take your Luggage to the Hotel and store it while your group prepares to Dive.  You'll make two Dives with your PADI Instructor at Casino Point.  Following the dives, the Van will pick you & your gear up and take you to the Hotel.  You can then clean up if you wish and have the rest of the day off to enjoy Avalon.  You'll be spending the night in a 4-5 person "Bedroom Guest Suite" with a full Bath and Kitchen.  There is a Bedroom that sleeps two and two Full Beds in the Main room.  We will put Couples in the room and singles in the main area.  We will accommodate everyone's requests whenever possible.

Sunday morning you'll awaken to an early Breakfast (Included) prior to making your final two Beach dives off Casino Point.  The Seaport Village Inn Van will meet our Group at the Hotel to help us with Gear & People Transport to the Dive Site.  Following the dives  to complete your Open Water Certification, the Van will bring you back to the Hotel.  You should be wrapped up by noon and depart back to the mainland at about 4 pm.  So you'll have some time to get some lunch and share stories with your fellow - newly Certified divers!

NOTE: All Hotel and boat reservations are booked more than 10 days in advance - Because of this we may not be able to accommodate special requests.  Additionally, we pay a fee based on the number of people who register for the class.  Should you wish to cancel after you have already made payment our Cancellation Policy is;

• Less than 7 days from the departure date - we will try to fill your spot with another diver.  If we are unable to sell your spot, you will be charged the $170 accommodation loss.
• Less than 2 days from the departure date - you will be charged the $170 accommodation loss.
